Intel Pentium 2 133 running NT server

This computer is a file server for the NT system workgroup  ECIV NT Domain.  It has 80 Gbytes of disk space, 40 Mbytes memory . It is named after Count Alessandro Volta (1745-1827).

Volta, Alessandro, Count (1745-1827), Italian physicist, known for his pioneering work in electricity. Volta was born in Como and educated in the public hools there.  In 1774 he became professor of physics at the Royal School in Como. He invented the electrophorus, a device to generate static eletricity in the   following year. In 1776-77 he applied himself to chemistry, studying atmospheric electricity and devising experiments such as the ignition of gases by an electric spark in a closed vessel. In 1779 he became professor of physics at the University of Pavia, a chair he occupied for 25 years. Inspired by the work of his friend Luigi Galvani, Volta investigated reactions between dissimilar metals, and developed the first electric battery (1800), providing future researchers with a   constant source ofcurrent electricity. In honor of his work in the field of electricity, Napoleon made him a count in 1801. The electrical unit known as the volt was named in his honor.
