Alberto Castigliano was born in Piedmont (Italy). He attended the Technical Institute of Terni and the Polytechnic of Turin completing his dissertation in 1873. In his dissertation Intorno ai sistemi elastici the theorems now known as Castigliano's first and second theorems are presented. ...
